Shannon Barnes, PhD, is the owner of Tranquility Counseling Services, LLC. She is a licensed professional counselor. Dr. Barnes earned her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from the University of North Georgia. Dr. Barnes continued to earn her Master of Science degree in clinical counseling from Brenau University. Dr. Barnes then obtained her state license as a professional counselor. In 2014 Dr. Barnes earned a doctorate degree in counseling studies. She continues to practice under her professional counselor license. Dr. Barnes has extensive experience with working with individuals and couples regarding a variety of needs. Dr. Barnes has obtained continued training to increase her effectiveness with marriage counseling, oppositional behaviors, substance abuse, and trauma. Dr. Barnes continues to increase her knowledge base through continued education and research studies. Dr. Barnes has developed a holistic treatment approach that has been show in her research to increase life satisfaction and increase marital satisfaction while decreasing depression and anxiety.
Dr. Barnes has also developed the Individualized Balance Awareness (IBA) treatment method which has been published in peer reviewed journal. The IBA method has a strong foundation of case studies which indicate it is an effective treatment model for many needs.
Dr. Barnes is a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor. She offers supervision and consultation to other professionals as well as to her staff.

Amelia DeRamus, LAPC, is a graduate from the University of North Georgia where she did both her bachelor’s and master’s degree.
She is under the supervision of Dr. Shannon Barnes working with , families, adolescents, adults, and groups. Amelia has experience working with adolescents, young adults, and adults who are struggling with life stress. Amelia has experience with working in Adventure Based Counseling which implements adventure activities and incorporates them into counseling techniques and theories. She is also currently serving as a Chaplain Candidate in the USAF which opens the opportunity in her counseling office to see military and veteran clients.
Amelia’s goal in counseling is to promote a healthy lifestyle that is unique to each individual. She implements a holistic approach that opens the doors to looking at multiple areas within a client’s life for growth and improvement.

Nancy O’Connor, LPC, is a graduate of Georgia College where she earned both her bachelor’s and her master’s degrees. She has been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2001. Nancy’s has extensive experience working with children, adolescents and their families which includes working with traumatized minors who are or were in foster care due to abuse/neglect issues. She has been successful working with families who need professional guidance regarding negative life events and utilizes a variety of treatment methods that have been clinically shown to manage behaviors and increase life satisfaction. Nancy specializes in working in the areas of depression, anxiety, adjustment to life changes and trauma and grief.

Jamie received her master’s in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University in 2005. She is a counselor and a certified yoga instructor. Jamie is under the direction and supervision of Dr. Shannon Barnes, LPC; CPCS. Jamie offers group journaling and therapy workshops. She has offered journaling workshops for ten years and the past five years she has added yoga to increase relaxation. She offers her workshops in therapeutic settings and retreat centers.
Jamie will complete an intensive training in Dialectal Behavior Therapy, the first week in December, which will lead her to become a DBT informed therapist. Jamie uses CBT in her sessions, and will be taking her second workshop on Internal Family Systems by mid- November.
From a young ago Jamie has been passionate about helping people grow into their best selves. As a child, she knew that there was nothing more important in her life than growing in to an authentic version of herself. Her greatest joy has been leading others down the path of healing and authenticity of self. She believes that our essence is that of seeking personal growth, even if that is not the immediate reason for coming to therapy. She believes the act of showing up for a therapy session demonstrates the character traits of discipline, strength, and a deep caring for self. Jamie brings compassion and humor into her private and group sessions. Jamie focuses on the treatment of depression, anxiety, mood disorders, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, and marriage counseling.
