Shannon Barnes, PhD, is the owner of Tranquility Counseling Services, LLC. She is a licensed professional counselor, LPC. She is also a board certified professional counselor, BCPC, with the American Psychotherapy Association.Dr. Barnes earned her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from the University of North Georgia. Dr. Barnes continued to earn her Master of Science degree in clinical counseling from Brenau University. Dr. Barnes then obtained her state licensure as a professional counselor. In 2014 Dr. Barnes earned a doctorate degree in counseling studies. She continues to practice under her professional counselor license. Dr. Barnes has extensive experience with working with couples, families, and children or adolescents regarding a variety of needs. Dr. Barnes has obtained continued training to increase her effectiveness with marriage counseling, oppositional behaviors, substance abuse, and trauma. Dr. Barnes continues to increase her knowledge base through continued education, research studies, and conducts research projects pertaining to the services offered. When Dr. Barnes is not helping others she enjoys life by spending time with her family, riding motorcycles, traveling to concerts, and attending various social events or fund raisers. Dr. Barnes is also committed to the compassion projects chosen to promote community outreach to those in need.
Dr. Barnes offers in office sessions as well as teletherapy sessions via video conference.
Dr. Barnes accepts most insurance. Private Pay session fees range from $85.00 - $95.00 per session.

Amelia DeRamus, LAPC, is under the supervision of Dr. Shannon Barnes working with couples, families, adolescents, adults, and groups. Amelia has experienceworking with young adults and adolescents who are struggling with life stress. Areas concentrated upon inlcude:-Depression-Anxiety-Anger Management-Behavioral Issue -Career Counseling-Coping Skills- stress and self harming-Self Esteem-Trauma-SpiritualityChristian Counseling-Couple Counseling-LGBT.

Jenie Christopher is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and can currently accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and Humana insurance.
Jenie has been working in the mental health field since 2009. She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at The University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia and her Master in Clinical/Counseling Psychology from Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia in 2007.
She specializes in working with moms, especially new moms, who experience feelings of uncertainty, anxiety, self-doubt, and signs of postpartum depression/anxiety/OCD. She also specializes in working with children and adolescents in areas of managing low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, impulse control, and low frustration tolerance.
Her approach to therapy is a mixture of solution-focused and cognitive-behavioral strategies that help you to identify your unique strengths and build attainable goals for YOUR life. It’s all about authenticity and self-awareness – and we will work together to help you build your confidence and establish life and personal balance.
Jenie also does community outreach services by volunteering and conducting trainings for adoptive and/or foster parents on various topics to demonstrate skills to use in their home while fostering, or getting ready to adopt, children who have suffered abuse and/or neglect.
When not in the office, Jenie enjoys some downtime and personal self-care by spending time hiking with her husband and two small children, kicking back and watching a good movie or reading a good book, and/or sharing staycation adventures with her family and friends.
Jenie is offering in office sessions as well as teletherapy sessions as needed. She accepts only private pay at this time, but does have limited slots on a sliding scale fee as well.
Katy Miles is a Licensed Clinical Social worker (LCSW) and has been working in the mental health field since 2012. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Gender Studies from the University of Georgia, and her Masters of Clinical Social Work from Kennesaw State University.
Katy works with adult individuals and couples as well as adolescents. She has completed the Level 1 Gottman Method Couples Therapy Training, a research-based approach to helping couples manage conflict and deepen intimacy. Katy practices LGBTQ affirming therapy and welcomes clients and families of all sexual orientation, gender identity, and relationship status.
She strongly believes in the healing and restorative power of therapeutic relationship and works with clients to explore issues of identity formation, anxiety, depression, grief, body image issues, and life transition.
In therapy, Katy works with clients to understand the life experiences that shape and may contribute to current difficulties or feelings of being stuck. She partners with clients to identify what's working well in their life and areas that may need attention. Katy takes a creative approach to her work and includes expressive art interventions and mindfulness techniques.
Katy is not an "in-network" provider for insurances at this time and does not bill insurance companies directly. However, you may have "out-of-network" benefits which allow you to see any therapist, pay directly, and then be reimbursed directly by your insurance provider. She can provide you with an invoice so that you have documentation to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Neil Richey is one of our interns. He is currently working on the M.A. degree in Professional Counseling from Amridge University. With his background in ministry, he has counseled with church members and people in the community for nearly two decades. He is experienced in working with clients from a variety of backgrounds.
When Neil is not working with the church, or seeing clients, you will likely find him doing something fun with his family. He is married to his college sweetheart, and they have two children, and two dogs. They enjoy spending time together, whether it is traveling, going kayaking, fishing, or soaring in the sky. Neil is a licensed private pilot. Additionally, Neil spends a lot of time writing. He has contributed chapters to numerous books, and articles to several religious publications. He has authored and co-authored a number of books as well.
As Neil pursues his M.A. in Professional Counseling, he is excited to be working under the supervision of Dr. Shannon Barnes and providing counseling services along with the excellent staff at Tranquility Counseling Services, LLC.
Neil’s wish for his clients is that they have a life that is well-lived. He believes in the adage, “A life well-lived is a life that is lived well.” He seeks to help individuals, couples, and families who are struggling with the “have-to’s” of life, learn how to “live well.” Neil is willing to work with most client needs. You are invited to schedule an initial appointment to see if he is a good fit for helping you with your needs.
Neil's fees are $25 for individuals and $35 for couples.
Leslie Moore (Les) completed his Bachelor Degree in Human Services through the University of North Georgia and has earned his certification as a Life Coach (CLC) through The World Coach Institue. Les has extensive experience working with others through his internships and through personal life experience. Les offers Life Coach services as well as Behavior Support Coach services under the direction of Dr. Barnes. (Please see our services page for a more detailed description of these services). Les has experience working with others who have maladaptive behaviors in their lives, which causes distress. Les also has experience working with addiction. Les possess leadership skills which he applies to assisting others reach their life goals. Les has assisted with current research projects thorugh Tranquility Counseling Services, which has also increased his understanding of human behavior. Les continues to increase his knowledge through various trainings and continued education offered by Tranquility Counseling Services. Les recently completed a community outreach trip to India where he was able to put his skills to use working with India families and children. Les is also committed to the compassion projects chosen by Tranquility Counseling Services to reach out to those in need. When Les is not helping others he enjoys traveling, spending time with his wife and friends, and focusing on his martial arts discipline for his own optimal physical and mental health.
Les offers sessions by telephone or through video conferencing services.
Fees are $50.00 for a one hour session.
